Northumberland - heart warming hospitality

Headed up North to Northumberland for my husbands 50th in August 2014.  The weather was lovely and the scenery was stunning.

We stopped in Hexham for a walk around on the way,  be sure to check out this little cafe. The Bee in the Butterfly - home cooked food and a lovely welcome https://www.facebook.com/BeeInTheButterflyCafe

We stayed in Corbridge for our first night in a lovely B&B http://www.2thecrofts.co.uk/.  I had researched some nice places to eat before hand.  We decided to go to The Black Bull https://www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/our-locations/the-black-bull-corbridge.  We had a nice glass of wine & a pint in the lovely outdoor seating area in the sunshine on the afternoon

followed by a lovely meal on the night, you need to book as it is a very popular place. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and we are looking forward to visiting again soon.

The next morning we headed up to Kielder for 2 nights and stayed at http://www.thepheasantinn.com/.
I had read the great reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed.  Again the staff were amazing and the food was some of the best we have had in a long while.
The views from the room were stunning.

Plenty to do in the area.
We biked the 26 mile round Kielder water

Gary tried out water skiing too.

All in all this is one of the most memorable weekends away we have had this year and are looking forward to another trip up North soon.
