Australia - Perth & Sydney

Gary and I were lucky enough to be able to head down under in April 2014 for a month. We stayed with family in Western Australia (Perth) for 3 weeks which was amazing.  Then we moved to Sydney for 4 nights.

King's Park was perfect for a picnic overlooking Perth City

we spent a couple of days @ Cottesloe beach which was so nice

and we had a good road trip to "York"

Suspension bridge

One day we got the ferry to Rottnest Island and hired bikes !!

There are some gorgeous beaches on the island

This is The Basin

On a trip to Serpentine dam we came face to face with a kangaroo !! so cute

and a gorgeous waterfall / plunge pool

For Easter we headed off on a camping trip to the wine region @ Margaret river.

Check out the "swan" towels

We were camping near a village called Cowaramup, there were cow statues all over

We enjoyed seeing some more amazing beaches

footprints in the sand

Gary did some fishing one morning

before heading off to do some wine tasting !! @ http://www.laurancewines.com/

We went to Yallingup beach, where they do the surfing competitions the waves were awesome

and then we headed to canal rocks which was a sight to see

Western Australia was a great experience and a gorgeous part of the world

Then it was Sydney here we come !!

Sydney really got to us !! we just wish we had gone to Sydney for longer.
Again I had done my research and we had booked 4 nights in the Meriton Serviced Apartments on Campbell Street and it was fantastic for the money

http://www.meritonapartments.com.au/sydney/campbell-street.

Our first breakfast in Sydney

It was literally over the road from the theatre (this is view from the apartment window)

The apartment was a twenty min walk down to Circular Quays

and a 10 min walk to Darling Harbour.

we had a lovely meal @ http://www.waterfrontgrill.com.au/ and cocktails at http://www.margaritavilleaustralia.com/ in Darling Harbour

Would recommend the opera house tour

We enjoyed a bottle of fizz and a sharing platter in one of the bars on the harbour after our tour for about £25 fantastic location

and watched the sunset

The Sydney Harbour Bridge walk was fantastic (make sure you book) it was an amazing experience

This was the view from the top of the brick towers
(as you are not allowed to take your camera on the Bridge Climb)

another group above doing the climb

We are looking forward to going back to do the night time climb.  It is quite expensive but it is well worth it the views are out of this world.

The hotel below is where all the stars stay

We had a lovely Italian in "The Rocks" after the bridge climb http://ziapinatherocks.com.au/ the food and wine were gorgeous and the service was great too

We got a ferry to Manly one day

This was the beach at Manly

On our last night we went to see The Lion King

Sydney was spot on !!

All in all we were surprised how cheap everything was in Sydney and we will be going back.

Sydney is an amazing place and everyone was so friendly.

The holiday of a lifetime !!
