Western Scotland June 2021

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic we decided to travel just in the UK in 2021

We headed off in the last week of June to Loch Awe for 7 nights with a night in Glasgow on route.

It was my first time using airbnb this year and I have been really impressed.

Would highly recommend Colin's superb ensuite room in the heart of Glasgow with free parking

Superb Ensuite room in Victorian Townhouse

The room was spotless an Colin was the perfect host. We had the whole of the ground floor to ourselves including a beautiful spacious kitchen were we were able to have breakfast. There was a Tesco Express just around the corner to grab some supplies.

Once we had checked in we headed out for a few drinks on the afternoon. Turn right out of the accommodation and within 10 mins you are in Glasgow centre.

First stop was this funky cocktail bar https://www.tikibarglasgow.com/

Great food and service in the sunshine.

Then we headed down to the Wetherspoons pub which is an old banking hall called the Counting House.

The Counting House - Glasgow

The building inside is amazing

We enjoyed a couple of drinks before heading back to the airbnd to get ready for our evening meal

After a little relaxation we headed out for our evening meal.
10 mins out the accommodation the other way is the CBD with all the bars and restaurants

We had a lovely meal in Mora Bar & Kitchen the food and service were first class

When in Scotland it would be rude not to dabble in a bit of whisky so we stopped for a night cap on the way back in Ben Nevis Bar

They had a few whiskies to choose from

This was one of the favourites

There are plenty of places on Argyle Street for eating and drinking. - and whilst on holiday one likes a few tipples on the way back to the accommodation.

The sunset was lovely out of the window of the bar

The beer was good too

After a great nights sleep we headed on up towards Loch Awe and our home for the next week.

We had a lovely drive up past Loch Lomond and on up the scenic "Rest and be Thankful road"

The highest point on the A83 is 803 ft above sea level and divides Glen Kinglas from Glen Croe.
