Skiing - Courchevel 1850

Back from an amazing week in Courchevel 1850, March 2016 - weather and snow perfect.

We arrived on Saturday 5th March to lots of fresh show and sunshine.

We booked our holiday with Crystal Ski and stayed at Hotel Olympic on a B&B basis in 1850.  Our package included ski hire and lift passes so it was a great deal.

http://www.crystalski.co.uk/ & flights were with http://www.jet2.com/ which were great, first class customer service.

Our room was newly refurbished and the shower was amazing.  It is only a 2* hotel but it felt more than that.  The bar area was lovely and cosy and great for a drink after a hard day on the slopes.

You can ski under the tunnel to the left of the Chenus bubble station practically back to the hotel.

We ate out three nights at a lovely restaurant called LE 9.9 a 2 min walk from the hotel highly recommended, lovely home cooked food and the
house wine was really nice.

We can also recommend Le Kudeta just under the tunnel near La Croisette friendly staff and great food and wine.

We awoke on the Sunday to clear blue skies and had a great day getting back our "ski legs"

We stopped for lunch on the slopes outside http://www.courcheneige.com/ the food and hot wine were lovely and the views were fantastic.

1850 has a great mix of green, blue, red and black runs.

My husband and I did lessons with http://www.skinewgen.com/

My lesson only had 3 people on it so it was great, more like a private lesson. I did level 3 and my husband was level 5.

Mount Blanc can be viewed in the background  - this was at the top of the Biolay chairlift.

Davide our instructor was really good and very patient. At the end of the week he told us we could move to level 4 next year !! #feelingproud

On a morning after our lessons we used to all meet for a coffee in The Polar cafe at the bottom of the slopes at the croisette, nice to recharge your batteries.

Before heading back onto the slopes.

One afternoon my husband and I skied down to La Tania. We skied down from La Croisette to the Plantry chair lift.  From the top of there we skied down the blue run Arolles, then onto the lovely tree lined green run called Plan Fontaine - but there are more challenging runs that go down to La Tania too.

We had lunch at Les Marmottons http://latanialesmarmottons.fr/#_=_

View from outside the restaurant. Was lovely soaking up the sunshine

It was the nicest food and service we had all holiday

Gary said this was the best Irish coffee he had ever had.

After lunch we got the La Tania bubble up and skied back down to the Bouc Blanc chairlift that takes you back up into 1850.

There are some lovely little cafes on the slopes in 1850 to stop for a lazy lunch too

One day we skied from 1850 over to 1650.  We took the Pralong chairlift up from midway down the Jardin Alpin green run in 1850.  Then headed down via the Pralong blue run. This run goes right past the airport where all the private jets fly into. (A plane took off as we passed a great sight to see.) We headed down onto Pramerul blue run and onto the Roc Mugnier chairlift over into 1650.  Then we took the Grandes Bosses blue run onto Indians and down into 1650.  Before getting the free shuttle bus back up to 1850, but not before having some refreshments in Rocky's Bar on the high street.

The shops in 1850 are very exclusive but nice to have a wander round to see "how the other half live"

I was going up a bubble lift one day and spotted by husband below on a chairlift - you can just to say see him in the trees dressed in blue.

Overall we had the most fantastic week.  Everyone was saying it was the best week in the season so far for the snow and weather,  so we were very lucky.

Kate & Will were in Courchevel at the same time as us !! I think Kate had stole my style she had the same outfit on ha ha

Roll on next year

Gary longing to be back on the slopes on our last day.

Until the next time.
